The Adut Kiir Scholarship Program: A Step Towards Educational Equity and Empowerment
The Adut Salva Kiir (ASK) Foundation's national scholarship program is a commendable initiative that aims to provide educational opportunities to students from every state and administrative area in South Sudan. The second phase of the program will select an additional 62 students, with a focus on providing opportunities to more girls. The selection process for the program was rigorous and transparent, with the committee visiting all eight counties to identify eligible students who completed primary school in 2023, 2024, or 2025 and met one of the three categories: orphans, disadvantaged children, or children of veterans. The impact of the program is already being felt by the students, who are expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to study and succeed. Nyanwulu Moses, an 18-year-old scholarship recipient from Wulu County, said, "I would like to thank Adut Kiir Mayardit for giving us this chance to study in Aweil. We will study, succeed, and return to our parents."
